Sunday morning club rides start from Costa’s Greenford, on the Ruislip road, normally at 8.30am. However, check with the ride lead, as occasionally rides to events or the longer routes may have earlier departure times. We average 25 – 28 km/h, but have a ‘no drop’ policy so don’t leave people behind, and run different groups at different paces dependent on who is up for a ride.
Our routes take three main directions – West towards Windsor and Marlow, Northwest towards Great Missenden or South towards Box Hill. Distances vary, but generally we aim for these to be zone 2 rides for endurance, and in the colder months they are generally 60 to 80km. When it’s warmer we go longer – between 80 and 110km, with the odd 200km ride for fun. Given we have the Chilterns nearby there are plenty of lumps to keep things interesting.
If you are a new member and are looking to “try before you buy” why not email us to come along and meet up with club members on one of these rides? Email
Routes are publicised via Spond and the WhatsApp group. It's also great when members send out a message on a “Sun’s out, who fancies xxx then?” basis.
Westerley members, if you want to be part of our WhatsApp group, please let us know.
A note about riding in a group
New to group riding? No problem! To ensure our rides stay smooth and enjoyable for everyone, we suggest a quick self-check before signing up:
- The Park Test: Can you ride two laps of Richmond Park (clockwise) in under 60 minutes?
- The Distance Goal: Are you comfortable riding 30 miles or more?
If the answer is yes, you're ready to roll. Group riding is a total game-changer for your speed and stamina.
If you’re normally steadier than this, no problem — email us and we’ll suggest a suitable group or point you to local rides that’ll be a better fit. We aim to reply within 48 hours and will be delighted to help you find the right run‑out.
